Frederic Lalonde – CEO and Founder
Before founding Openplaces, Frederic was a VP at Expedia, running product planning for Hotels and Packages for Expedia.com. At Expedia he also participated in various M&A activities, including the acquisitions of Hotels.com, TripAdvisor, and eLong. Prior to Expedia, Frederic co-founded Newtrade Technologies, which grew to become one of the world’s largest connectivity platforms for the hospitality market after it was acquired by Expedia in 2002. Frederic also sits on the Board of Directors of MakeMyTrip.com, India’s leading online travel company. 
Joost Ouwerkerk – VP Product and Co-founder
Before co-founding Openplaces, Joost was a Product Manager at Expedia, responsible for the company’s hotel supply technology strategy. Prior to Expedia, Joost was a Program Manager and Software Engineer at Newtrade Technologies, where he helped design and build Expedia’s hotel supply connectivity engine. Joost has the unusual distinction of holding post-graduate degrees in both Media Theory and Software Engineering.Â
Sebastien Rainville – Lead Engineer
Sebastien single-handedly rewrote the entire industrial automation prototype software for the F.L. Smithe Machine Company while on internship in 2005. Because nobody else at the company had been trained on it, Sebastien found himself suddenly indispensable and stayed on for another year in Pennsylvania before eventually returning to his studies. He now applies his prodigious talent helping develop Openplaces’ unique search technology.
